How to answer a product information request.

If you have received a Product Information request from one of your customers, and you need help finding the steps on how to complete a request, please see this article first: How do I complete requests from my customers?


With a product information request, your customer wants you to list products that your company supplies to their company, in your profile on the sustainabill platform.

This is, in most cases, the first step in the process of mapping the upstream supply chain that is common to your company and the requesting customer.



I. To complete a Product Information Request


Once you have clicked on "complete" next to the respective request under "Pending Requests" in your company profile view (as described in the above article), please proceed as follows:


Your customer may request you to list:

  • All products supplied by your company to their company.
  • Specific products supplied by your company to their company (for instance, only products that contain specific high-risk materials).


a. Answer the first question by clicking the little arrow on the right and select from the drop-down menu the corresponding answer.


b. Click "Add productto list all the products that are relevant to your customer, as specified in the request instructions.


  • Click "Add new product" to add a product that is not yet listed in the sustainabill platform. 

If you have already products listed in the sustainabill platform, there is the option to choose "Select an existing product" to update information concerning products that have been listed previously by your company.


  • Fill in all required information and click "Create" to add the product.



Note: 
While adding new products, please make sure to provide the following information:

Product identifiers (e.g., article numbers) that are known to your customer to allow a clear identification of the listed product(s) by your customer.
Detailed information regarding the components of your products according to the scope defined in the request instructions:
⇾ Components are the material inputs your company purchases to produce its product(s). If you are an importer, agent, or trader, please add a component that is identical to the supplied product A complete picture of the components of your products is important for your customer to achieve visibility in their supply chain in the next step. A Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) - if available. REACH and RoHS material compliance information - if applicable.



II. How can I edit an already submitted request? 


In case, you want to change a given answer to an already submitted request, contact your customer and ask him to reset the request. After that, the status of the request will be changed to "Pending" and, you will be able to change any answer(s) you like. 

Just make sure to resubmit the request afterward.
